Introduction
What Playpex is, how its apps fit together, and where to start.
Playpex keeps your films and series on a computer in your home and plays them on every screen on your Wi-Fi: your TV, your phone and any browser.
It is made of one server and the apps that play from it:
| App | What it does | Runs on |
|---|---|---|
| Playpex Media Server | Keeps your films and series, finds their posters, downloads, and streams to every screen. You run it from its dashboard in a browser. | Windows, macOS, Linux |
| Playpex TV | The big-screen app for a computer plugged into your TV, driven by a remote: arrows, OK and Back. | Windows, macOS, Linux |
| Playpex Mobile | Your library on your phone, every file played as it is. | Phones and tablets |
| Server Manager | Finds your server on the Wi-Fi and opens its dashboard on your phone, with the remote for your TV. | Phones |
Everything lives on the server: your library, profiles, watch lists and the minute you stopped at. A screen only shows it, so you can stop a film on the TV and finish it on your phone.
Where to start
- Install the server on the computer that keeps your films.
- Add your library: point it at your folders.
- Connect a screen: Playpex TV, Playpex Mobile or a browser.
